Do your FCS (original, two plugs) fins snap?
Mine snap at the base (tabs). I went through three sets in the last 12months, pretty fed up with that.
Either the plastic or fiberglass ones snapped, and no I don't hit reef or sand, they just fail after a while. Last one yesterday, in the middle of a turn off the top of a little wave.
Would you recommend any better system? FcsII, futures, glass-on?
OR am I riding it all wrong, too much pressure on the fins?
Cheers,
Gino
Had this problem for a while on an old Slingshot (I think?) board got fed up with it and sold the board I was losing or breaking the same fin without hitting anything. Most boards now do futures/multi, proper fin boxes, some fin types allow some flex, doesn't mean they should break. Check the quality of your fins. Straps on a board and edging it hard like a twinnie would also put greater pressure on the fins.
Cheers mate!
I'm riding strapless, and surely I ride old/used gear. Maybe I should try some futures hey, but jeez if they're expensive :))
For Futures Fins check out Gumtree and Ebay - Ive bought sets for $60 and they seem to do the same job as the $160 and $245 sets sold else where - someone is ripping someone off !!
For this reason I have been using future boxes since 2011 in my boards But one client has been using Fcs 1 and has not had problem Second season big guy
