We are going to be shuttling regularly for Downwinders from Quinns to Shorehaven &/or Shorehaven to Yanchep.
Maybe even a few longer ones like Hillarys > Little Is.>reef run to Shorehaven
No really good surfing waves around but plenty of fun stuff to play on.
Shorehaven is an awesome landing. Huge grassy pack up area. Fresh water showers for you and your kit. BBQs right there for apres kite sausage sizzles and drinks. It just doesnt get any better than that.
Always a matter of the More the Merrier. Give me a shout if youre up for it.
Hey Phill
Details ?
How long is that run?
What time would you be going?
do we leave our cars at Quinns and you drive us back? or we leave cars at shorehaven and you shuttle us to quinns ?
Sounds good. We're always chasing a new spot!
Hey Daggy - been a long time.
Not trying to organise a rock concert here.
Just posted cos theres 2 of us on the beach at Shorehaven every 'nice' day. We will be doing our own thing - shuttling our way around for different downwinders IF & ONLY IF we are not teaching when the breeze comes in.
BUT - as it turns out - theres heaps of kiters interested so thinking now if we can get a community thing happening then any downwinder, any day, any time, can be organised by members just by sharing contacts in an app.
Looks like NORK is the preferred name (North Of the River Kiters - for those who need to justify rude anagrams ) .
Looking now for a convenient way of hooking up members to a private sharing app.
Tried Whats App a while back but maybe theres something better out there now?
Any clues about best apps for this type of group would be appreciated - esp considering my Un-Tech savvy nature.
Ill get the ball rolling by opening a new FB page tagged "NORK" (if they let me?)
Yeh I called in to see Phil today, looks like he has a fantastic set up, and also very jealous of his office.
should check it out. Great location for kite and sup all there available for you. Great to see! Thumbs up from me. Will be calling in to hire a sup so I can make my family laugh trying.
Our first downwinder outing of the Norks today.
Marty coordinating a Claytons to Shorehaven run in less than favourable but easily possible conditions.
From all reports it went well - despite the gusty frontal conditions.
Tomorrow - Sunday 7th - Wanneroo City has organised a "Street Food Festival" happening at our landing beach - Shorehaven Waterfront Park.
Yet again its really not idyllic conditions for an all-in (including newbys) NORKERS downwinder BUT a great opportunity for NORKers to come together with some exotic food to add into a meet & greet social gathering.
Experienced NORKers are encouraged to organise a long downwinder.
Marty & I can only hope to do a short hop from Alkimos Beach back to Shorehaven once lessons finish at about 22kts.
Ideal for NORKER newbys - not too keen for a long downwind run just yet.
Get onto the 'NORKS' message group if you are eligible for tomorrows plans - or would like to be in the future.
A search on FB for NORKs should find us. (or 'NOR Kiters')
PM me if it doesnt work for you.
Why not make it south gero kiters if it's for downwinders all the way up there. What about people who kite from north freo upwards.....still NORKs however not really anywhere near the locality of where you will be kiting.
