Will be in South Island mid February mainly on the East Coast. Just wondering if it's worthwhile bringing the gear?
Pretty flexible locations.

Been in Christchurch since Monday, been kiting 4 days so far. So, probably worthwhile.

I'm originally from Dunedin plenty of wind around and plenty of beaches. Just take a good wetsuit.

Ever since I started kiting, I have ALWAYS taken my gear with me on any holiday....domestic or international....

Its not that much of a hassle....get urself a decent travel bag....mine fits board (tt), harness, 1x kite, bar and all my clothes on wheels and always under 30kg....pay the extra $1 per kilo when booking ur ticket...

I reckon if I got me one of those hallelujah kites, l could get it down to 23kg

Just been looking to head over, and hire a camper, was quoted $4482 for 12 days
Plus $1170 per person return, is it that good

Surely $360 a day day for a campervan seems excessive ?? What about a big hire car and cheap 3 star motels costs in comparison ?? You may stay in some van parks that cost extra as well ??? I don't know , just another option ..

$4482 Seems a little high, but it's not grossly high. I usually just hire the car and stay in hotels along the way. I find it more convenient than halling a fat ass camp around everywhere.

$1170pp If you're leaving from Sydney you're getting ripped, but from Perth seems about right.

If you're up the top, Nelson and golden bay can get good

looked at camper vans with dunny- @ 150 per day plus camp ground fees, 0- 25 per night. And needed to map sullage refuse stations......

So chose-, to rent a car for 40 per day and buy a motel chain voucher @ 60 per night for 21 nights.

slept in the swag 3 nights, one time at a motel with no vacancy; happy to have us and get the voucher. I mailed the motel the 2 we did not use before flying out of Nz!
