It also helps to check if your knife is still sharp as most will never have to use it. I keep my blade covered in surfboard wax and it prevents any corrosion. Every 6 months or so I will pull it out and try and cut a line to make sure it is still sharp. I rewax and pack it away in it's sheath. I have had this knife for 4 years and still cuts like butter.
smooth and easy....use your imagination. You are after all a Doctor.....
Cuts like butter...?
theDoctor's scalpel cuts like hot butter...
Oooh yeah I am ready for anything out there!
ps: no not me and apologies for the huge pic!

The normal kite line cutters seem to corrode quite quickly. Take a look at the trilobite line cutters. Double sided, will cut rope up to 10mm and webbing in one pass, come with spare blades and a pouch you can place on your harness in easy reach. Best I've seen. Most good dive shops carry them.
