I am considering how to replace the anchor bow roller assembly.

My 70's era boat has very limited space on the bow for the anchor roller. A previous owner has fitted a home made stainless steel unit that bolts to the casting and is braced by the upright of the bow rail. But it is just not sturdy enough. Anytime some load has been placed on the roller, it distorts and the roller then is jammed against the side walls.

Note that I use the horns under the furler to attach the tack for the racing sails, so it cannot be moved.

I would suggest welding up a U section in 6mm SS plate like a boat trailer roller. Then underneath this weld 6mm plate at an angle so that the unit can be bolted on so that the roller is horizontal and also at 90 degrees to the centreline.
If you need some one else to do this then I would suggest making a timber mock up.
