These make picking up your buoy a breeze.
No need to use the boat hook.
Just google the above address if you want more info.

Made my own for about $50.
Makes it easy when single handed. Just waitbfor it to come along side and Reach over and grab it.

Ditto. Made one from some grey electrical conduit, a white foam float and some lead flashing to keep it upright. Been in use for years now and still working just fine.

Why would you bother when if you brought this you can pick up ANY mooring from your cockpit

How does that work it looks like it just locks your boat hook to the mooring line, when the current is running bye bye boat hook

Whitworths sell boathooks too, don't they?

I haven't had a close look but if it's the one I'm thinking of, the hook detached from the boat hook and is already attached to the boat. Just hook the mooring and you'll fall away onto a tether until you can pull the rest in.

MMMMMM
I knew I should have described how it works

The hook is spliced onto a three strand rope of at least 25mm.

The bitter end is attached [however] to your bollard and lead out through your bow arrangment.
Lead it back to the cockpit OUTSIDE of all standing rigging and stanctions etc
Attach the clip to your boat hook, the holding the boat hook in one hand as well as the rope to maintain the hook in an open position..
Manourver your yacht slowly alongside the bouy, port or starboard depending which hand you are
Reach down and hook the bouy/rope/ rope loop etc with the clip so it attaches to the ....
Put the boat hook down, engine in neutral, walk forward and pull the captured rope/bouy to the bow and attach same to your yacht.

This method is a dream if you have 2m sides

I like your idea of running a line from the bow back to the cockpit to clip on to the stand up buoy.
Single handed it removes the difficulty of walking to the bow in rough weather until you are comfortable.
