I seem to be in a bit of a rope phase!

Bowline
Sheet bend (single & double)
Clove hitch
Round turn & 2 half hitches
Reef knot
Figure of 8

We all seem to learn the big 7. What other knot, in your opinion, should we learn and use. What for & why?

Anchor Hitch & chain splice so you do not lose your anchor.

Tug boat hitch (Lighterman hitch) to save your fingers when surging a winch wrap.

I like this one. My family were lightermen on the Thames from at least the early 1700s. I really should put it in my repertoire.

instead of trucker's hitch I start using Alpine Butterfly Loop

Ah, just had a go at that - a good knot and easy to tie. Thanks for the suggestion.
