I was just reading on another forum that RMS are apparently applying the limit of 28 days per year in one location and 90 days per year in total on anchor.
The one location is apparently anywhere in Sydney Harbour, inclusive of middle harbour et all. Pittwater including all the area up to the hawksbury bridges is another and god knows where else.
For those of us retired it is not difficult to rack up those times, or even those that anchor out every other weekend.
Evidently the use of an integrated computer base is going to facilitate this wonderful step forward.
Has anyone else heard of this?
Cheers

As far as I know it's 28 days on anchor in one spot, but I can't say I've ever noticed any such nonsense as a 90 day total anchoring limit ! That would mean if you had to wait for a mooring for more than 3 months you would have to move your boat out of state, take it out of the water or pay for a marina berth !

Yeah but if they now define the entire harbour, or broken bay/ pittwater as one spot that you cannot return to for one year then that's just draconian.

Gold Coast Waterways know very well. They cruise around photographing boats and enforce the 7 day anchoring limit religiously. Big fines, boats impounded. Welcome to the land of Tom Tate.

Didn't they impound that tall ship in 2016?

I know it cost the owner over a thousand dollars to get her back plus the tow cost as the iron sail was u/s at the time.

Qld is worse than NSW on this case

He's only a puppet
Some should ask the Bank of China CEO about his nice Rolex's that he and his wife have and I wonder where the receipts are for those
or do they have them for any warranty
I know some one would not be impressed at all

The authorities up here in qld are pigs. Amazes me how people can let themselves become so brainwashed. I look forward to getting out of here and never returning this far north. Rules rules rules. Never seen anything like it. State also seems to be rife with bludgers smoking fat packs of ciggies and generally being really fat and lazy, just lazing around. They're everywhere. Government and council workers here in qld are taking the piss. I saw 10 guys pile out of 3 expensive trucks to mow lawns in Russell island in a park the sizeof my backyard. An island of utter inbreds. Who pays for all this? No wonder they're off in their flash boats trying to dish out fines every chance they get.
its a beautiful place no doubt but something that always sticks with me when I travel is the people. People make the place.
as for this anchoring malarky if that goes ahead well....another reason to move back to new Zealand
all the rules up here are not even a blip in Europe. Australia loves rules. I thought nsw was bad. Im getting dizzy reading all the signs at boat ramps etc. yet I still see old boats stuck in mud around the place and sunken boats semi submerged - but you gotta have an anchor light. Hypocrisy.
bringing back memories when I lived and worked around the Tully river in the 90s. Bent police, corruption, arresting backpackers for assuming they were doing something wrong.
The further north, the worse it gets.
theres been a lot of really nice places on this trip, as in nice people , and yes in qld, but the further north I get the weirder It gets. I guess you could get used to it though aye like a hole in the head.
i did meet a lovely couple who have been living aboard there 50 foot boat in bums bay goldy from 5 years.
ive met a lot of really nice people actually living aboard from all over the country. I thought it was legal Queensland.
i implore people to not let Authorities divide us. They seem really good at it(it's been happening fo r centuries)
it seems the more rules made, the more people are encouraged to call police or at least get angry that so and so is breaking a rule. A rule that wasn't there before.
in this day and age people you really gotta question authorities. They are part of a bigger machine that do not have the general populations interests at heart. We are merely cogs in their machine to be used for their needs. I just wish peoPle wouldn't participate.
dont play the game. Don't be involved. They're are not yOur friends. They are using everyone for their own agendas.

These rules were mentioned in the latest copy of the Afloat magazine. The 28 days has pretty much always been the case. The 90 days bit is new and would be hard to administer except if the MSB had it in for particular individuals. Locally we have had liveaboards anchored for weeks at the time and the Msb officer moves them on occasionally. They generally just move up and down the river. The problem is usually a handful of pensioners that don't like a yacht parked in front of their house with washing drying, dogs barking, sailors flopping about pissed as nits in their front yards. If the "cruisers" behave then there is not a problem. The 28 day rule is there to use if necessary.
Interestingly the long term anchoring people find that it's much easier to just go to Sydney and anchor there and not have any problems with the MSB. If you take up a mooring here then there is no problem!

Every Monday morning they st around and make up rules other wise they would be redundant it they become redundant there unemployed
so they must make up new rules. Then at the end of the year they must make sure they have used up all there budget other wise they will get a reduction in there budget . Which would mean they doing a great job for the public
We would not want that would we
You look at the euro market they move it for one meeting down the bottom of France it cost to move the bureaucracy some thing like 2 billion euros who pays the cost of that. Then they move it back thats bureaucracy money for jam
Same with the uni its pigs in the trough thats why D trump hated it as its a waste of money they way it is its got to big and when its written up it gets lost in translation from what the leaders want to some thing the bureaucracy want

I agree with Sectorsteve mostly, though the problem isn't the people it's the fact that we no longer have a real democracy in Australia, remember that every law that any Government body creates is one less right that the people have and that the Governments first and only thought about any problem is to create a law that merely creates new criminals which they can fine thereby raising their revenue stream, which they then go a waste on things like solid gold toilets for polies and their flunkies,(okay that was a bit of an exaggeration, but probably not by much), and I'm not even going to start about the unconstitutionality of their ruling by regulations that they get up to...
But SS when was the last time you were in N.Z. because from what I've been told by people who have gone there it's just as bad as Australia is now...

An Item on the news last night said the Gov. departments are getting an increase in their budgets to pay for
the increase in electricity charges. Isn't that great, give 'em more taxpayers money while the taxpayer has to
go without to find the money to pay their power bill. Something wrong somewhere.

I seriously think he may be suffering from cabin fever, it's time for him to get off the boat for a little while go for a nice long walk, have a beer, a burger and just smell the roses for a time, then get back on the boat and let his misses make all the decisions for a day or two, while he just kicks back and chills.

I believe that a penalty unit in NSW is $110.00, but it may be more now.
