Hi, We are moving our boat to Woodford Bay and would like to know if it is possible to pick people up from Northwood and Longueville jetties on a Northshore 27 during any tide i.e. no matter how low the low tide is.

We also wanted to know which is the closest marina where we can refill our 60 l water tank.

Many thanks in advance.

You can pick people up from those jetties. Only problem is the massive, steel faced, vertical piles. If you use a fender board you protect the boat, but end up with quite a big gap from the jetty deck to your deck. One broker in the area has a big fat fender around the bow of his work boat, with a gap in the pulpit to step through. Approaches bow-on between the piles. Very Nordic concept.

The wharf at woolwich near the marina and boat ramp has a floating pontoon. You can get water at Bailey's marine in white bay. They are a fuel place but are ok if you just get water. Wouldn't hurt if you brought a small amount of fuel.

Hi Brisa,
I'm moored just off Onions Point opposite you in Woodford Bay. Don't bother with Longueville or Northwood for the reasons Yara has already stated not kind to boats at all.. Go for the pontoon that Twodogs has mentioned - much easier to negotiate with your sailing guests. As for water, I usually fill up at Birkenhead Point. It's only 10 or 15 minutes away from where you are. Sometimes I get fuel, but they don't seem to mind if I don't.

BTW, were you coming into Woodford Bay around 1:30 today? I thought I saw a NS27 heading to a mooring the middle of bay.

Thanks a lot Yara, Two Dogs and Azure. The Woolwich jetty sounds like a good option.

Yes, we came into Woddford Bay around 1:30 pm this afternoon. We just moved the boat there today.

I watched as you came past Greenwich Flying Squadron until I lost you in the middle of the moorings. The NS27 are terrific, and yours looks like a great boat - well done! I'm sure you're very happy.

Hi Erika,

I'm moored near the boatshed in Woodford Bay. I find it easy to motor up to the Northwood Ferry Wharf to pick up passengers. Theres also a tap at the little boatshed (North East Corner of the bay). I fill a 20L jerry and take it out to the boat to keep the tank full.
