due to insurance requirements for continued coverage, I find that I now need my swing mooring checked by a professional mooring contractor.
does anyone on here know of any in Brisbane area and how much does it normally cost ?
as I have always maintained it myself and don't have the slitest idea!

It cost me $250 to get mine done by a local guy at Mooloolaba. (seem a bit expensive, about an hours work max) If you cant find one closer let me know and I'll try and track down his number

There is a local "Contractor" here who does in water inspections for $50. He has inspected the wrong mooring! Mate and I rescued the yacht that came off the right mooring a few weeks later. We also rescued another yacht a few months back that came off the mooring a few days after one of his checks. There does not seem to be any qualifications to be a professional mooring contractor so word of mouth and reputation is important. I would also suggest your present for the survey.

I don't know where you are in Brisbane but these guys do all the underwater work on my boat and they do all types of inspections. They are based on the north side.

This is why I have been maintaining my own mooring.
it is for my own personal benefit to know the condition of what's holding my home and contents in place .
yet as insurance requirements state a professional mooring contractor it is looking like I let them check it then
after having to pay them check it myself to be sure !
love it just looove it!

In Southern Tasmania there are quite a few mooring contractors but Russell and Lynn from Southern Mooring Services (0457811070) look after my two moorings

They encourage the boat owner to be present when their mooring is lifted, cleaned and inspected and if they believe that something should be replaced they show you the item and explain the reason why

They are a lovely couple, are very professional in their work and i have no hesitation in recommending them

We get a bit of wild weather down here from time to time (it is blowing 53 Knots on Mount Wellington tonight with a cold front passing through) and it is good to know that the boat is secure on it's mooring

Regards Don
