Ok so I frequently have kids on board our pocket cruiser. The lifelines need replacing, that's a given. They have crumbling white PVC, the ends are corroding and they are stretched.

But when I replace the lifelines I want to also fit black netting around the whole perimeter for peace of mind and also stop small items blowing away. I think the best way to secure the netting at the bottom would be with a Toe Rail (unless someone has a better suggestion).

But I can't seem to find who sells toe rails. Or should I just buy aluminium angle and drill the holes myself? I have a drill press so that would be possible.

Or go even cheaper and just secure the netting with small stainless fixtures inbetween the staunchions?

Thoughts?

How about a tight cable running from stauntion to stauntion at the base of each. I would be very reluctant to put a heap of hole in your boat.
Nice little cat by the way. What did you pay for her? If you don't mind me asking?

I would be ok with running a 3rd lifeline at the bottom but not sure how I would fix it to the hull between the staunchions. This is needed because sometimes the line of the hull doesn't follow the 2 lifelines above. So the third would need to follow the hull closely or my wife's toy poodle could slip through.

Technically I didn't pay anything for this boat but there's a similar model on guntree at the moment for $30k it's in better condition than mine but mine came with a free private mooring :)

Looks like the only significant variation is where the lifelines run from the rear upper cockpit to rear of hulls. You could probably get away with running a line along stauncion bases and add one small bracket at base of cockpit for a triangle of added mesh as a dog catcher. Try some simple first!

Felix, any chance you could screw or bolt fairleads to the hull to run the line through ??.
