Gday all,
Just looking for some advice on purchasing a 2016 NSP DC Downwind Ocean Race 14x26 Brushed Carbon. I checked one out on the weekend and it looked really impressive. I have heard good things about this board. I will be using it to compete in any downwind race I can get to and hope to be somewhat competitive. If anyone can give me any feedback on this board or any similar boards I should look at it would be much appreciated. Also maybe somewhere I could demo one. Cheers
Cheyne

I have the 28" wide version and it has become my go to board for most of my paddling. It catches bumps SUPER easy and is very responsive to foot steering. I am a HUGE fan of SIC boards and own a V2 with A.S.S , an F14 and a surf sup from SIC as well. I wanted a board that was faster than my F14 in the smaller stuff so i bought the V2. The V2 works great on smaller, lined up conditions up to 4 feet, after that i need my F14 due to the chop we get, and the lower volume in the tail, which prevents me from standing too far back. I decided to try the NSP because i loved the shape and the volume it has. It's a VERY versatile board. I basically paddle the NSP all the time now. I had a DW run with 4 friends on Saturday that started out in 3' waves and about 18 mph wind, it quickly built due to a storm approaching, to 30 mph and 6-8 footers and quite choppy. That's when the NSP became a bit to tippy for me.
I have paddled the 26" version, but only on flat water, seems fast, but it's too tippy for me.

I am 6'4" and 225 pounds

So you're about 182 pounds? I would think if your balance is pretty good, you'd have a blast on the 26" DC.... they really seem to be great boards!

3 months ago I got my NSP DC Downwind Ocean Race Elite 14 '26 "and is an amazing board to downwind, but also for flat water, it is very fast! Today I did a tour of 12, 5 km in 1h 21min. With flat sea and my average speed was 9.2 km / h.

I've been looking at these but I'm confused ... isn't this is called the "Surf Race" in the 2016 brochure?... and the canoe style is the DW Ocean Race. Which one is which? Maybe it's different in other countries. In 2017 I believe this is "The Puma" and the Canoe style is "The Sonic"

Ya I figured it out... The "Ocean Race Elite" is the canoe style and they have a DW Ocean Race and a Surf Race that have more traditional decks. 2017 catalog seems much cleaner but I don't understand why they don't offer the wider boards (26") in Pro construction.

Depending where you are we have a 2015 brand new 14 x 26 flat deck which is lighter than the 2016 and from what i know pretty much the same board but in the pro carbon construction and only $2200 brand new. Good alround board.
