I'm looking for feedback on JL's board bags. Any good? Worth the money?
How 'bout suggestions for a board bag for an 11' x 30" sup?
Thanks!

I have a JL board but not a bag, I use a Balin and they are good value imo.

I got both my board bags "free" with each JL board....don't think they do that now. JL bags are fine...no complaints....still going strong. My best bag is a custom 10mm one...it's a jump up in fit, better cushioned and has a grab handle which makes it easy to carry. I'm in UK.

Hi Spirit4earth,
The Jimmy Lewis board bags are great but I don't bring them into the country anymore as we have so many good board bags here already & it means sitting on unnecessary stock... We offer Balin to our customers as they are a local brand who do a great cover & a competitive price..
But saying all that they're a great cover & should be available from Jimmy or on the US mainland...

My biggest hope now is that I'll actually NEED a board bag! Two JL boards have arrived damaged. ??

HI Spirit4earth,
Looks like you're in the US so I guess it'll be an issue with the freight company.... I haven't had a board damaged here in Aus for 3 years so they must have been pretty rough because Jimmy's boards are packed very well...

Fedex has depleted the inventory, and now I might not get the board I want. They were decently packaged, but nothing on the rails but the cardboard, and that's not enough for ground shipping,
I really want that Cruise Control.....

All Jimmy's boards are fully wrapped from the factory including the rails so not sure what's going on so best off contacting Jimmy...I'm sure he can organise a Cruise Control for you to..

I've been talking to Jimmy from the beginning. He's been a big help from the beginning. The problem now is that there's no available inventory, at least that is still in his warehouses. Fedex destroyed two good boards. The whole thing is still unfolding, but I believe Jimmy is doing the best he can.
the rails were covered, but not buffered, on these factory boards. Just a thin foam board sleeve, but no padding. Fedex is to blame, though, because they mutilated the boxes.

I have had many board bags of all types over 50 years plus.
Biggest negative all have poor quality zippers that corrode at the first sight of salt water.
I have a boat on a mooring which is extreme exposure for a zipper but no issue even after 7 plus years all zippers work fine.
Why not put these on board bags???

Good board bags have them: big teeth plastic zippers, no metal parts.. You definitively didn't bought the good ones, and the good ones are not even the most expensive ones. Even the first SUP bag I bought 10 years ago (FCS) had them.

I will not mention brands but high profile brands and custom - all require tlc.
