Have been lucky to demo a naish hokua LE 9"1 from the good team at ocean addicts on the sunny coast the last couple of days. Current board is a 10"2 JP Fusion which has served me very well but the hokua makes my old board feel like the titanic! I am no laird hamilton and only an intermediate surfer, but quickly found the hokua to be very stable but incredibly easy to catch waves and turn on. Anyone else have feedback on this board and anything similar i should demo? I am 5"11, 85kg, 70% surf (mostly 2-4 ft river mouth) 30% flat water. Cheers - Cooper

mate i bought the same board after also owning the 10'2" Cabrinha (now the JP Fusion) and am also only an intermediate surfer. i am 6'2" and 86 kg and love the Naish 9"1" hokua le. i am catching so many more waves, having heaps more fun and just love it. on flat water it doesnt have the glide of the Cabrinha/Fusion but still good enough and so much more fun in the waves. the only question i ask myself is whether i should have gone for the 8'8" hokua le but.....????

Try the Starboard or JP Surf wide points, 8 8 or 8 2. Both brands are similar in performance and great boards to ride.

Those Naish 32 wide Hokua look a lot of fun - but have to say that amount of rocker surely means it is a board for good surf. Love to try one but alas I can't see past my JP surf widebody...will surf this baby until it dies! Really good to see more wider and shorter boards becoming mainstream....brings performance and more fun to the masses.

Surfed both the X32 8 3 and the JP Wide Body 8 8. At first I thought the rocker on the X32 would require some juice. But I surfed it in 1-2ft full gutless waves and it went way better than the JP which I found to surf more fish like.

Hey Jonbro, i agree totally. Have had several sessions on the Hokua in small and full waves and really surprised how easy it is to get on, and stay on, such waves. Just needing some bigger stuff to take it in now :)

Guys.......I am sure the new Naish will turn quicker etc than the JP due to rocker but just can't see how it can better a flatter rocker on small weak waves........but hey I haven't tried one!! . I would like to try one out but unlikely due to where I live but really good you guys are so stoked on them though as they look heaps of fun. Joinbro........agree on the fish like ride of the JP ...love it.....perfect for where I surf and does remind me a bit of a trad fish I once had. So good that all these designs are coming out.....reckon the limited edition tag will soon go on the Naish as they will be so popular.
