Got a new toy. Paddles a little better than my 7'4" Hypernut but sits lower in water. 6 inches and + 3L. At 95 kg be good to loose a few kegs.
Looking forward to first foil session.
Board looks great! I have been thinking more about some kind of hybrid lately. What do you mean when you say it paddles better than the hypernut? Faster? Tracks better? More stable? Also, how much does the 7 '10" weigh? I know the extra boxes can add some weight. Do you think that weight makes it sit lower in the water than the HYpewrnut?
nice board goggo.
I almost bought one but I went with the HN 7'4 x 30 and as a 80kg it was a nice board to surf and better than I thought it would. The foiling side of HN was ok I guess as a beginner as I had no idea then but have some idea now. I don't know how you paddle that board at your stat but I guess the extra 6" in length might help. I fould the HN was my limit in terms of shape and volume.
Had a pinetec 7'4" Hypernut for 3 years and love the way it surfs. Handles pretty solid waves but it is pig to paddle.
The difference in the way these boards paddle for me is I can get more strokes per side on the smik even though it sits deeper in the water. Still too early to do further comparison.
Smik weight feels ok, more weight there because of boxes, felt nice underfoot and surfed well in tiny stuff, can't wait to try in some waves with more power and to try with foil. Will need to be smooth conditions.
Haven't weighed board as I don't have a scale, helps with normalised beer consumption.
