Started out, just drinkin' beer...
turned into a discussion with FinsUp around the pros and cons of glide vs carveability and the best way forward for Top End waves.
This went on for weeks. And they turned into months.
"I need to speak to the Oracle", I told FinsUp.
He agreed - there was no other option. I was getting desperate and there was a real risk of losing momentum on the new board.
Turning into a state of wide-eyed incomprehension. Like a bunny in the headlights. Dilated pupils. The hangover without the party.
So, I crafted an email outlining the predicament and sent it to the Oracle (aka SuptheCreek).
"Dingoman", he said, "do what's right for the way YOU surf."
"But, what about the Placid?", I said,
"follow your guts", he said.
"The Skate?", I said.
"Only you know", he said.
"A custom One with quad options?"
"No," he said - "but only Bert can say whether that would work."
My favourite boards (when I surfed shortboards) always had channels. It's a no-brainer.
So I followed my guts and went hard.
And after a few weeks, it arrived.
The 9'4 Creek. So stoked.
Nice one Mandingo, not green this time? Get a GoPro and do a video so we can see what the top end has to offer!
Cheers Dave - yep - she's a straight up stock number.
Go Pro's on the list. Definitely need to start posting some vision from up here.
And when you finally bust out of lockdown - get yrself a ticket to the land of the endless summer...!!!
I am hanging out for that believe me!
Got my custom 9"7 creek just the other day. Love it
aahhh...YOUR ready for some big waves now MANGO . ,the creeks where great on the maldives trip i went on ,in big waves ,nice glide on these boards ..
NT waves look out .
nice pictures sydneysup .and I like the colour of the blue board ,
yeah man - the new board's arrived just in time for the wet season and- it's full on La Nina this year man - all signs are looking towards a solid cyclone season which (as you know cob) means heaps of swell!!! Yeeeeoowww!!!!
If we can get a few cyclones in I'm gonna be in like Flynn. I'm toey as to get the 9'4 out for a surf and get a feel for her - drawn out lines and down the line speed man.
Sweet custom Sydneysup- I've heard the 9'7 Creek is a deadset ripper. The blue looks sweet as - get amongst it man!
