Yeah, agree!
The perspective from the drone is amazing.
I always knew it was a special place but Wow.......
Nearly mentioned in my first post that day's early morning surfers were snarling at someone up on Makorori hill that was ruining the early morning ambience and was flying a drone. But looks pretty open slather at this beach....lots of people. Maybe the exception that proves the rule?
Drones can be very annoying, nothing worse than the buzz of a drone over your head when you are out trying to enjoy the elements. A invasion of personal space
What an amazing wave and that drone was so high you wouldn't even of heard it , great footage . That is also a world class foil wave you would be able to foil all the way into the bay.

I was waiting for that. The surfers were not lighting it up Couple of quality party waves. Beautiful footage.

Nice positive first post.
Sorry, just something I feel strongly about.
Probably try a drone forum to vent your spleen then.
There is very good reason why drones have been banned from many of the major surf breaks in Australia, including where the drone took these videos.

Okay post the link to where it states that there is a ban in place, from a government site not you mates Facebook page.

thats the beauty of forums, you are able to hear a variety of views on a topic and maybe learn a little too.

Not 100% correct, its classed as 'Restricted Air Space' with means there are restrictions to flying in that area, there is a process to seeking flight clearance to fly in this location, assuming you seek clearance via the air space Controlling Officer (Defence - It is mainly closed during live firing). you are good to go. National parks and waves that fall within these areas are a different matter but again you can request permission.
Holding a RePL (remote pilot licence) is a bonus.
My interpretation of the site is that is referring specifically to drones and very clearly states you must not fly here. Of course I maybe wrong.
What a troll that Iam guy is.
Picking away at other people's videos ......without ever having made and posted one himself.
Hope he doesn't chew his fingernails also
Gee you guys are very sensitive, I never once had a go at the video, the quality of,or the substance of, merely the fact that not everyone enjoys drones buzzing around when you are out having a surf. In fact I had empathy with the prone surfers mentioned in your own post. Nothing more nothing less. No offence was intended.

I actually work and operate a UAS in a Defence control restricted area similar and close to area at Point Leo. We also receive requests form commercial and non commercial operators to fly within these zones and mostly they are approved. These particular areas are very under utilised.

**** drones!
I like watching everyone's videos.... it lets me into their SUP world and shows me around.
Drone footage is really fun to watch, if the pilot is good.
This video was interesting, but more as a "line-up observation" than a surf video.
This pilot looks like he stayed high enough that only young ears would be aware of it.
We don't have enough drones around to get bothered by them, but I can see if there were a lot buzzing around it could get annoying.
There was a drone filming where I was surfing last week, but I didn't give it much thought.

Agree it was high. Only issue I have when flying mine is people who are not filmed get dark. Maybe lam is not filmed enough
