Owned/have a Apple Watch series 2 and 3. Disappointed with the activity apps compared to big wave dave on Garmin Fenix.
Tides I use surprisingly for tide, Strava for tracking activity and the inbuilt weather app for weather.
I hope someone has a good wind app as I have not found much. Tried a few but they are ordinary. The series 4 with its own SIM card might offer more.
I have a series 3 watch. I use an app called Waterspeed to track my paddles. I paid for the premium version. When you open the app on the phone, it has a weather feature on the premium version that seems fairly accurate. Provides wind speed and direction, and tides.
You can track a paddle on the watch and leave the phone at home and then sync it up. The free version of Waterspeed doesn't save beyond 5 paddles nor provide weather data or a countdown timer. Overall, I feel it is a good app for paddling without spending money on a real paddling tracker.
Rossall,
I dont tend to use any weather apps, but find dawn patrol a good surf tracking app. Also used Paddle Logger. Both apps store your surf info and will transfer to your phone.
The absolute best 'application' is being on call and taking messages and phone calls while 200m offshore. Gold
Yeah Dawn Patrol works for me too. (Apple Watch 3)
Just got that but it does not sync with Strava which I use for all activities like mtb.
