Hi all,
Spending a few days in Castle Hill late August with my wife who will be at a conference so will need to do some paddling during the day. Does anyone know if this is a good place to have a paddle or should I go further North, plan on doing more Central Coast some days but this is only 35min from where we are staying?

Never paddled up there but often go on boats... Beautiful scenery, lots of epic houses and then bushland not far from the Berowra boat ramp. Go a few km's and there are some nice sandy beaches too. It should be pretty sheltered in most winds but you're likely to run in to a few boat washes... Go far enough and reward yourself with a beer at Pete's Bite!!! Should be a great place to paddle.

I've paddled upstream from Berowra Waters Ferry to Crosslands Reserve in the past. Lovely paddle. About 2km south of Berowra Waters Ferry is a 'paddle only' section of the river. Quite scenic and quiet with no water traffic. Highly recommended.

Can't account for Berowra Creek upstream of Crosslands Reserve, but immediately south of Crosslands Reserve looked OK. Easy launching at both ends of the paddle.

Downstream of the ferry there are some great views, but frequent power boat traffic. If paddling point-to-point be careful with your planning as there is quite limited access to the water from roads/streets.

Paddling around Brooklyn is also quite good (maybe 35-40 min from Castle Hill). The fish and chip shop across the road from the train station is superb. The area is reasonably tidal, so keep this in mind. Access to the water is good.

Cowan Creek at Bobbin Head is also worth looking at. Again quite tidal. Plenty of access to water at Bobbin Head or Apple Tree Bay.

Cottage Point may be worth visiting. Board access is terrible, but there is a little kiosk on the water with stunning views. Food & coffee were average.

Water is pretty muddy, crosslands can get quite dirty, be careful, I wouldnt want to fall in. Lots of paddling around central coast.
I prefer to go down to Mona vale than paddle apple tree bay or bobbin head. Quite a few bull sharks around bobbin head and the marina at night.
I would wait till after 10am and before 2.30 and drive down to the spit and manly to paddle. There are heaps of spots in Sydney. Just dont drive around between 7am-10am and 2.30 -7pm as traffic is super bad.
Have a friend who paddles berowra waters a lot. Good by all acounts. Brooklyn is also good, the pie shop at cowan is better than the pub. Look up pie in the sky. The angler at Brooklyn is not bad either.

Did the crosslands to berowra waters paddle today and revise my previous post. Make sure its at least three days after substantial rain. Now must concur with magila good paddle.

Glad I didn't lead anyone astray with that recommendation...
