Been supping for 7 years now. Never had this experience before, what do you guys think? I'm out at a point break at Tweed and the winds are south, it's mid tide and there's a fair bit of current moving. Anyway I'm paddling against the wind to stay in the one spot. There's a deep channel next to where I am. I feel this bump push me forward into the wind. Didn't knock me off my board but definitely moved me a little bit. Kind of like a backwash push, but I was facing south and there's no north wedges pushing into this spot.
I though oh that's weird then kept paddling for ten seconds and then went oh ****, what if it was a shark? I told myself it was an awkward chop from the shallow water going into deep water then coming back against the wind, which I still think it might be, although I didn't notice any of them when I was looking at that spot. I looked around but there was no sharks. I moved off this bank with a deep drop off and moved back towards the shallower bank where there were these big bait fish start jumping out of the water. Then started paddling against the current and forgot about it.

Thing about this particular wave is that sharks are on my mind. A week after the guy was attacked and killed at Greenmount last year my best mate was spearing 1km off this spot and a very large Greta white charged him at high speed but pulled off at the last second when the boat drove towards them.

Anyone had anything similar? Could it be possible for another marine creature to do this, like the large bait fish or do you think it was the ocean?
Like I said, I have never felt a push like this before, wondering what cause this phenomena
We don't get seals up here.

Maybe a shark came up for a cheeky look and decided you were too big and ugly and spun around at the last moment and its tail just caught the back of your board

A Greta White would be much more dangerous than a Great White

^^ less of a clue

Probably not the same, but I had my board lifted up with a massive bump a couple weeks ago and it scared the crap out of me.... until I realised it was the big bubble coming up from a reef hole after the wave passed. Never felt it before it was really solid! I was only in waist deep or maybe shallower, I don't think you'd get it in deeper stuff?

Ooohhh....probably was Whitey! (although I've had my leash pulled a few times by seals but not "pushed" or "bumped".)

I've thought if I ever got a yellow bottomed board, and there are some I'd like,
I'd tape black zebra stripes or even sharks teeth all over the bottom...or paint it a different color.

Apparently bull sharks are known to "bump before they bite".

Don't know if there are bullies in your area. I'm on the Sunny Coast

I've been bumped a couple of times in flatwater and a few years ago there were reports of bullies "bumping" kayakers in Currimundi Lake

Yeah definitely bullies. Mates get charged by them regularly when they go spearing about 2/3 kms away. These blokes significantly talk things down. This was the mate that was charged by the white last year. I was in his house for 45minutes before he told me about the white. Charges chopes like a madman. Locals love him there. I still don't know hey. The shark would have to of been going in for a kiss at most not to knock me off, which he is why I doubt it was one. Place is sharky as all **** but no one hears the stories my mates tell me when they go spearing there so it's always packed with swimmers. I solo surfed my teens at this place not knowing, thank ****. At least two surfs a week on my own. Nothing beats uncrowded, solo surfing!!

These blokes, all their spearfishing mates, reckon if there's a person on the beach in the water then within a 10km radius at any time there are at least 10 man eaters. They only have three stories about whites between them. The other two just as scary but the whites wernt aggressive.
