hey guys
looking at getting a custom longboard sup as I've been surfing an old 11'6 laird lately and loving it however she's seen better days
just wondering if anyone would recommend anyone, would prefer Sydney, central coast or hunter as I'm on the central coast
Many thanks
Jarryd

Surefire
Had a 10' Surefire J-Hawk that was awesome, a custom would be sweet.
Yes I had the stock J Hawk and a custom 11 ft version, both great boards,Mick's passion for his product,is outstanding!,the bonus being his boards have a lot of laird DNA in them that he has improved I.M.O.
Unfortunately I think Mick has pulled the plug on the business at present
Quality product, quality man I hope all is good there !
Unfortunately I think Mick has pulled the plug on the business at present
Hope all is well and just reduced the business model, demand is high from what I can see.

yes that's what i'm hoping also
Hi Jarryd,
If you have no joy with what's around locally I'd recommend giving Simon from DEEP a ring.
Really easy to deal with, you can buy a standard size or have one custom made to your preferred specs.
I'm like you and enjoy the longboard experience, had mine for about 12 months and really happy with it.

thats a sweet looking board, is it custom or stock, dimensions?
Jarryd
It's a custom, 10'1" x 28" x 3 7/8" @ 121 litres. Simon will do up some computer designed shapes, then you have a chat and work out the finer points, colours etc. This is my second board from them and I've been very happy with both.
Hi all,
Yes unfortunately Surefire has closed up for the short term. I won't go into the reasons here but I appreciate all the support and good feedback. In the meantime If you are looking for a custom I can definitely second the opinion of getting a DEEP.
Simon is an amazing shaper and actually helped me out a lot through the years. The reason I actually started experimenting with Innegra was through his advice and knowledge and he glassed a few for me in the early days whilst I was setting up the Surefire Factory. If you are after something specific, just give Simon a call, he will be able to dial you in the board you are after. It all comes down to a few key parameters:
1 - what boards you like in the style you are after (and why)
2 - What boards you DON'T like in the style you are after (and why)
3 - What length & volume (width & thickness if you are really dialled in)
4 - Style of surfing
5 - Waves you will be surfing
You don't need to answer all of the 5 questions, but it does really help your shaper if you have a specific board in mind so it can be totally dialled in for your needs.Make sure you post photos of all your customs for all to enjoy. Hope to catch you in the water and share some waves.Cheers, Slatz
