Anything is surfable, if you want to surf it is the real question

I don't know any people who would surf those conditions, and they surf some ****

Windsurfing/kiteboarding might be better

Yep I've surf some epic winds. but like you the swell has been dampened by reef cove points ect ect.
had wind gust sea chop basically knock you over while sitting out the back. Tuff conditions yes uncomfortable yes unsurfable (new word :) no.
like guys surfing in freezing conditions ideal conditions no but they are getting stoked and isn't that it?
i long for that ol feeling of adventure and keenness surfing but am old and very fussy these days. Hey sounds like a great place live

We often get our best surf in those conditions . Get used to it . Worst part especially with a longboard is getting to the water - longer boards act like a sail . Also good idea to wear some head protection - have copped one board in the head after being caught in a wind gust . Wind chill factor is a bugger as is wind spray in the face when the wind is offshore . Otherwise no big issue . If available find a protected point and go for it .
