Does anyone know if an Aeron mast base rope can be replaced?
How do you do it?
It looks to me, that it is all snapped together and I would have to break the plastic tabs to get the mast base open.

Mast base or mast extension?

It's the mast base. The safety line that goes from the pin part to the base itself.

If it's this kind of base
then there not much you can do to replace the cords down the side of the tendon.

These are very similar to the NP bases, the top bolt is drilled in the end and then flared so it won't come undone the only way to get it apart is to drill the flare a bit (without destroying the thread behind it), the bottom bolt is just a bugger of a thing to undo the cords are tied of behind at the base of the wide end of the dome.

If you realy wanted to you could drill a hole parallel with the tendon pins to thread some new cord through.

Yeah the Aeron base had nonstandard parts and small bits that weren't as good as Chinook, so I ended up just replacing them with Chinook.

Yeah, that's the one (except the Euro pin).
I bought a secondhand Chinook, it's got a bit of slop to it which I think is b/c of the 1.75 washer
You can see the parts here:
These days I get to go to the beach more often but the catch is that I only get an hour in the surf, so I got a Severne Cyclops which has shaved a few minutes of rigging and de-rigging, giving me a little bit more time to play. But when using the Cyclops, the Chinook also feels like it has more slop in the pin-to-mast connection.
I was thinking of getting the old Aeron mast base out and giving it a go, to see if it removes that clicking and sloppiness. If you look at the Severne mast base, besides the coloring, it looks just like the Aeron design.
Maybe I should break out the calipers and see if the pin is a slightly different size.
On another thing Mark, I have finished off the board. Gave it a spray with a can of white car paint that I had lying around, hated it, sanded it back, stuffed it up a little but found another can lying around which matches the board better. Just waiting for a no wind, no wind, no rain, and a bit of motivation to give it another spray. Thank you for all your help.

The Aeron's rope is fraying but other than that it is still in great condition and I just hate to just throw it away.

Also be careful with the Cyclops. Some of them have a defect, don't know if you've seen this thread:

I still use mine but I'm careful to make sure the button pops out and doesn't stay depressed.

I read it and I almost did not buy the cyclops.
Still at the start of the season and the wind and waves have not come up yet so I am testing it out in mushy little waves using a wind-SUP board.
I have to say wind-supping is so much fun. I spent the whole session just playing around the waves, no one else out on the water, I didn't have to check when tacking, can be as greedy as I like catching all those little waves.

And I can confirm that the Cyclops does have a failure. I checked and double checked that the button was in the right spot. Gave it a little wiggle to make sure it was holding okay. Went through a wave holding onto the top of the mast and had a disconnect. Rig, board, and rider are unharmed. Bit scary though, got the heart racing when I was trying to find the rig.
