So I busted a knuckle, finally. Old injury made worse by sports. I now have practically zero synovial fluid in finger joints and the finger just hangs there, useless, swollen, bumping into things and hurting. I can't make a fist.

OTT?

Go for a sup & hang onto your leash with your floppy finger - problem solved (SUP leash amputation pics on relevant thread in SUP section).

you should see if you can keep it and make a necklace out of it. you could use it as a pointer

Halloween costume accessory.

But yeah, it's getting to the point where it's either some magic surgery and an implant or just lose it. I can't grasp anything much right now, am using left hand.

That is not that uncommon of a request as anyone would think, I have a doctor neighbor that has told me stories about that.
He told me of a guy he knew that had his leg amputated below the knee because it was permanently numb. He was always accidently bumping it into things, cutting it, and bruising it all the time resulting in repeated bouts of infection, it was effecting his overall health and white blood cell count. His doctors agreed that it would be best to have it removed, so they did it. He's been happy and healthy ever since.
Limbs that have no feeling are often better off gone.
