Recently bought two 2020 JP boards and I just love their foot straps. Have used many different straps over the years but these are way out in front. No twist, hold their shape, easy to fit and adjust for any sized foot, just perfect!
Yep gotta agree with that Orange. I used my new JP 71 for the second time yesterday and was thinking how good the footstraps are.
I 3rd that, I've got a 2019 JP, foot straps are standard cobra (ok but white and dirty easy). My 2020 JP, same board but smaller (94 ultimate wave) are awesome.
Double screws, (Perfect for wave riding) soft and great shape, plus measurements on inside, to get all straps perfect. Great for going between booties and bare feet for nasty reef breaks, no stuffing around. Plus the 2020 graffix's are awesome!, but scratch too easy !!.
Best foot straps, from my current crop of boards, Patrik F-race, Quatro quad, And older JP !!, on par with carbon art wave boards (double screw and soft and strong).
Where did you get the boards? Did you get a bargain
At my local retailers, 1000 kms down the road. The one I buy most of my gear from gives me a good loyalty discount.
How are the boards , they look like a good shape .
Bought a SLW which I've used a few times and a Super Ride which only arrived this week, should get it wet this weekend. I'm really pleased with the SLW, was worried it would be a bit technical for me but it is so easy, love everything about it, plug and play light wind board. The qualities of the SLW sold me on getting the SR. Did I mentions the foot straps are awesome!
Wow, you run them BIG!
And on a outside freeride location.
I have broad feet and I like to be able to move my feet around, would never set them tight. I haven't used the SR yet so purposely set them a bit bigger until I discover what the board is like to sail. Will then reduce them after a few sails according to how it likes to be sailed.
On my bigger boards I like to be right out there with my feet hugging the rail, straps just prevent my feet flying upwards, is that bad technique?

Mine only have single screws, they must be different on the wave boards.
What size sail and fin do you use on the SLW, and what width is it ?. Any pics ?As only having wave gear, I've just recently got a 120 F-race board, 7.5 m lion and 40 cm fin, gets me at 90 kg blasting I think at 12/14 knots?
Im only curious on the planning limit of the SLW ?, cheers in advance ??

FYI, I'm 75 kgs.The SLW is 92 wide and comes with a 56 carbon fin, I have a 58 fin but haven't used it with this board yet.
I have a NP 8.7 V8 on order through my awesome local retailer. Lead time is dragging on a bit due to COVID (reductions in air freight) and also Neil Pryde have new owners and they're still getting their **** together. Consequently I have only used it with my 2017 NP 7.7 V8 which is a nice sail, particularly for early planing.
My plan is to maximise early planing with the 8.7, not interested in going bigger than that. With the 7.7 and factory fin I reckon I get going in 10-11 knots, whether the 8.7 will make any difference, not sure, time will tell. At least it should keep the board on the plane consistently in the same wind better, than the 7.7.
Dakine Primo
The straps on my supersport ARE very good, but Dakine Primo tops them
Is it a 2020?

Finally a Slw Dream come true???
im feeling drool and lust looking at this board
cheers Jeff
Thank you Mr Whip, it looks fantastic, great info.
Ive been thinking of a SLW or foil or even a longboard (windsurfer). But the reality is I can sup surf till 15 knots then I can wave ride or blast my slalom kit.
I have really enjoyed 14 knots, calm water and blasting on my 7.5/120 L combo. Was always interested in the SLW for under this limit, but still a decent investment.
Thank you very much for the detailed info, great looking but of kit ??
Ditto on the 2018 starboard, altho I believe they were the premium version. Now let's see how they age? Always liked the JP straps anyway :) !
Wonder how yours compare to the dakine tyrant strap. The tyrants are wider straps. I'm running the tyrants on my board and absolutely love them! Nice board!
Where can we buy Dakine straps in Australia now?

Surf sail Australia in Perth have some but looks like some styles are out of stock.
I managed to get a new set of those JP straps , came off a transport damaged board . Very solid looking and the size adjusting marks are a nice touch . I've always liked and used JP straps and these seem even better .
Tyrants are comfortable and massive! Unfortunately for me not possible to have toes sticking out while cranking upwind with foot slightly out. Ever run into this issue about going in too deep? I prefer running them loose all around and not just up down maybe that's why. For the front foot definitely more depth shy than back foot.
Great boards, its just a pity someones mum came up with the colour scheme.. :P
Personally I love the colours and the fact that they don't have very ordinary graphics that make them look like a running shoe. Taste in colours are of course individual preference, but Im not afraid of purple or pink.

It's not purple and pink , it's mauve and magenta.
