Which would you get for general fun blasting around. Fox 120 or Futura 117 flax/balsa?

Both awesome boards . There is a review of both in the current Windsurf mag. I have the Fox 120 and have had a Futura but not that one. I think the Fox is longer and narrower maybe 245 by 70 and the Futura 228 by 77. Despite the differences they share similarities but I think the Fox is going to have an advantage in rougher water while the Futura probably the edge in acceleration. Which is faster? I think that's going to depend more on the pilot. I would be stoked to sail either.

I have the Fox 120 and sailed the future 122 a lot, the fox is a much more comfy board to sail and the bottom shape let's it blast through chop like it's hardly there where the Futura slaps hard n chop making a bit uncomfortable trying to sail fast.

The Futura is a great board but the Fox is so much more enjoyable to sail.

I sailed the piss out of a Fox 105 in Cape Hatteras (it was a rental) with a 6.6 and (unfortunately) weed fin (good one though). Board was phenomenal in the chop! The foot pads were cushy too. Was able to put the hammer down without fear. I have an older Futura 111. Decent board but nowhere close to the new Fox in hairy conditions. I'm sure the new Futuras are more comparable.

I have the fox at the moment and love how it sail and handle the knocks. I guess what I should of asked was how the flax/balsa construction feels and holds up

Not same size as you're taking about but i had a futura 101( 2011) and have a Fox 105 ( first model). Both very good. I think in rough water the Fox has a definite edge and is super comfortable. I love on the fox how when a gust hit you sheet in and it just spooks up nicely. My 2c

There are no links to the article because it is still available for sale on their website at windsurf.co.uk in the March issue. They make all the older reviews stretching back over a decade available which can be very useful.

Not sailed the Fox, but I would think it be more like the Carve? I have Carve and Futura in similar size and year. Futura is much earlier to plane and faster top end, but Carve is a much more comfortable in chop and a more mellow ride. I find Futura is hard on the knees in the chop.

From what I have been told by a few Fox owners I have spoken to, Fox is similar ride to the Carve. Sorry, could not say if it is better though.

Had a carve and it's very comfy very easy to sail, the fox is quicker and more exciting but still very easy to sail.
