1. Don't sheet out, oversheet slightly to get your weight up and over to leeward.
2. Get body weight into turn first, don't stand up straight and just extend arms.
3. Don't stay down too long, start coming up the moment you hit the bottom of lay down.
4. Don't rake rig behind you, too much tail pressure kills your speed.

Have long arms, low booms, flat water, lots of speed, and commit.

It's what I do these days after a hard, energetic windsurfing session.

I nice laydown.

When I had my lesson in Maui many years ago, instructor always said bow and arrow arms ( front arm straight and back pulled tight, as above).

Didn't help me ... never managed to lean in far enough. :(

Sharp upwind turn completely offloading the sail towards you and back. Then, leap forward and over your board as hard as possible ! You want to have your mast tip pointing down.

Did I forget to mention I'll be learning in 2-3 feet of chop?

Actually, in all seriousness your bent knees will take care of that. Look where youre going to go. The look backwards helps with the "power oversheet"

Kato's given some good advice there...

Yes. Look backwards. It does a few things
Oversheet ...depowers the sail
The look backwards gets you to look in the direction that you are going to travel in, it gets you to move your hips and shoulders in the direction of travel ( helps turning )
Slide hand forward and flip
I recommend that you find some flat water to start with

I look at the top tip of the mast. Helps me get it nice and low in the initiation of the lay down.
