Hi there.
New at seabreeze and happy to see that there is a lot of severne users.
I just bought a ncx 2017. 8.0 m2 very nice indeed
They told me i can use it with a constant rdm 460 + 35 cm extension. Is that right. ???
They whant to sell me an italica 90 % new at very good price. But i m not sure it will work. And cannot try it as they have to send it....
Please need help.
Thanks in advance

i always thought severne sail ,where hard top similar to naish and Gaastra .

you could use that RDM cc with a extension of 35...but i think it will be too soft ..

i would look for a 490 severne mast.or gaastra ,naish.

Hi Duck, I use 2017 6.5m (430), 7.5m (460) and 2016 9m (490) NCX on a mix of old constant curve SDM masts and they work fine but I'm no racer. The thing to remember is that like most standard battened sails, if you rig them with minimum downhaul for maximum power then you will need to give them a good yank to get the battens to flip over in lighter conditions (without any outhaul applied - i have the front of the lower three battens sitting about a third of the way across from the leading edge of the mast for this). With good pressure and a little more downhaul/outhaul, they de-power awesome for tuning (I have found that I can get away with big gaps in my sail sizes because of this) and the battens will flip over easier. As always, use the numbers as a starting point and rig by eye/feel. Definitely try one on any old constant curve SDM mast before you start looking at other options.
