Interested to see what new years resolutions you guys are setting for yourselves..

Windsurfing related:
1. Competent at forward loops (ok would be happy to land just one)
2. Perfect duck jibes
3. Competent at sailing backwinded + heli tacks...

By making a formal record of them at least forces me to ensure I keep focused...

Let us know.

Cheers,
Rob

Mine are:

- Consistant gybing of any description.

- Deep water starting every time (can do it, but not very well and easily).

I've got 2 weeks down at goolwa of sailing every day atlest once. So hopefully i can get one or both of the two things down packed .

Anyway good luck to everyone and happy new year.

Get first gybe completed without crashing, and follow up with better than 50% Gybe ratio, carve first then duck gybe.
Have a month to do it in, just need lots a squashed air

my resolution:

To stop being so awesome at sailing.
Just once I'd like to stuff up the landing of my one-handed double backies, just to feel human again.

bet i keep landing them though.

you could try something more adventurous, like no hands, or no hands/no feet. Or first loop no hands, second loop no feet, just for a bit of variation.
Any way good luck at rediscovering your humanity, hope you don't get too far above the rest of us.

My resolution is just to keep going!

Nail carve gybes properly, none of this clew first BS.

Also learn how to jump higher than the height of my fin, without falling off on the landing.

Yeah well last year I set my sights on doing my first forward. It is now the end of the year and still not landed one... Crash landings posting got me thinking that the only way to ensure that you actually get on and sort it out is to put it in writing....

It's now in cyber space and signed in blood so I have to commit...

My main priority is practice, practice and more practice. I constantly find my self settling back into blasting along and forgetting that I need to get into repeating the move over and over in order to ensure it becomes natural.

Once you get the move hopefully its like riding a bike...

Hope to also see more people commit to doing forwards next year (wind permitting of course)???

That's a good resolution rgeerdink however someone once told me that, "practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect."

That said, your resolution should be to loop ONLY off quality ramps in quality wind.

I've grown up in choppy bay conditions and have been looping since I was 18 (now 31), my tip? Pump yourself up before your session with some loud music, rig up, don't talk to anyone (especially the 'chair police') and hit the water focused and aggressive treating every wave you encounter as a 'potential' loop opportunity.

Hold out until you find a good ramp and JUST F@#!!NG LAUNCH IT!!

Keep your 'form' through the rotation and most importantly let your legs take the load of the impact, don't hang off the boom too much letting your legs dangle as you descend, remember the board will hit the water first so make sure it's positioned well on descent and you'll be fine.

Oh yeah, watch plenty of video footage in slow motion of how the pro's do it, no need to re-invent the wheel!

My New Year resolution?

* Double forward attempt (it's the thought that counts).

1) nail 95% of carve gybes (planing- when wind permits)
2) improve race results
3) make it down to sandy with al & vando
4) break 38knots (in queensland waters), i'll be happy with peak
5) comfortable switch foot, sailing backwinded and 360's

by sheer luck for getting wave gear again this year
6) nail a few vulcans (getting there)
7) perfect duck gybes- have always just gone for carves
8) body drag like robby
9) try frontloop & back
10) just bloody go wavesailing

Oh and beat vando for the year's gps rankings

Sonic, there's nothing wrong with keeping the imagination going.... Maybe it rubs off on your windsurfing moves...

TelecomGreg

TelecomGreg, one tip given to me is to forget that you are trying to gybe, but rather try and carve the board right through a full 360 degrees. Once your feet are happy with that, then worry about gybing the sail. (And hey, you might accidently get your 360 in as well!)
Cheers,
Harrow.

My resolution is to be of laying down karma... I make it my mission to be helping those serial drop in's and snakes to be of mending their ways.
This help reduce anger in water and make sailing better for all.
I starting of list for serial waters pests... so far this angry little man with big ears calling of himself by waveslave (wavesnake) is topping of the list for certain.

Ah lets see:-

1) Go for it (what ever it is) like life doesn't matter (coz it doesn't)
2) Make a start on vulcans. (I'll go and read my notes right now)
3) Most immediate is to finish my push tacks and up-wind 360s
4) Lift my game with helis and planing gybes
5) I'd like to get a comfortable parcel of old school freestyle including Carving 360s, Body Drag, Backwinded gybes, Cowboys, Duck tacks.
6) Forwards of course.

At the rate that I learn thats about 4 years worth. I'll be pleased if I can manage it in 2. Which brings me to :-
7) More TOW
