To get your qualification you need to talk to the state body of yachting australia. I spose that would be yachting Qld, there will be yacht clubs or training centers within the state that offer the corse.

I did my instructors in England, took like a week so maybe you can consider doing it when you go over. You need powerboat licence and firstaid cert as prereq so may help to get those here before you leave. You also need RYA level 3 cert minimum to qualify to sit in course. www.rya.org.uk/ will give you info on all their approved courses.
