Hey Crew, ive got an older X9 180-230. Dont like the fact ive gotta have an rdm spacer to suit rdm rigging. Bound to forget it or lose it. Anyone ever swapped boom head on X9 to a style that will take SDM n RDM?

The spacer sure is annoying, especially on the wave X9, where you only use RDM masts. But the X9 is the only boom I've had where the head didn't end up being loose. I think that's because it's carbon (AFAIK, Streamlined is the only other boom with a carbon head).

Suggest you check the price of the X9 / XC carbon frontends before pushing on with the project.

Not that you asked it, but I prefer to use the RDM (Ezzy) shims with my booms. They seem to grip the mast better than the clamps I have used without a shim. That said I haven't used a recent boom head made for an RDM. I leave the rubber shim in the boom head all the time so I never forget it.

^ the 180-230 can fit maxxed out my 8.5m lion (sdm). My smaller Lions are rigged on rdm. So i need to swap regularly.
My Gaastra blueline fits both sdm n rdm. Without any spacer. X9 much stiffer n better to use, though. Like chalk n cheese.
