The one on the bottom has a mast track similar to modern boards so you should be able to attach a universal joint. Can't see the fin box in the photo.

Unless you're a fan of classic boards, probably not something you want to sail. Just in case: these boards are not suitable for a beginner.

Tyronsea 360 is a good board to learn on. I sailed one for a few years. We all learned on boards like this.

Both boards would be reasonably compatible with most modern rigs (assuming a modern mast and boom as well). You may find the mast track position a little too far forward on the Bic for some modern race type sails, but should be OK with most Freeride/Wave type sails.

It could be a bit hard to find modern suitable fins for both though....

I would disagree, agree and agree with you. That's a good example of survivorship bias. A million of this kind of board were sold. Maybe a tenth stuck to it. We're what's left of the tenth after kites/wings/other interests pared the count.

I remember running clinics with boards like this. If, by the end of the day, someone could actually stay on long enough to sail out and back, we'd all applaud. Now on modern gear, I can get a teenager to do that in twenty minutes and not get their hair wet.
