yeah yeah, I know, nancy pancy but my hands hurt! What gloves are people using and where the hell do you get em??? I know NP do some but my local shop is out of stock and not sure when they can get any, Dakine also do some but I haven't seen any nor do I know where to get them either.....Any suggestions other than ship chandlers and waterski shops?

I used to use the NP gloves which were great but I wore them out after about 4-5 months(to much sailing) and I was still getting bad callouses at the first knuckle which was painful during the day

Having the pointer and thumb free allows you to do stuff without taking your gloves off, the tacky grip (it doesn't feel tacky) is very effective and saves a lot of effort when gripping the boom. The gloves are still going strong after a year of abuse.

+1 for whitworths. They have a good range and you can try them on.
You need to make sure they are thin on the palm side and don't bunch up when you flex your fingers.
I have doubled my sailing time by wearing gloves. I still get callusses but much smaller ones. The gloves also protect the back of your hands from the sun.

I use work gloves full fingers I found the half fingers gathered up cutting circulation.
The black ones with a thin leather full palm grip cheap and last and in winter no numb finger tips.
Some people say you loose the feel with them. If your fingers are numb you cant feel anything anyway.
And all you need to do is take them off if you are doing fiddly stuff.
I only wear them in the cold or if im doing a distance sail.

Got myself a pair of Gill brand sailing gloves. The same as the Ronstan's like Elmo uses but thinner in the palm padding so less likely to pucker when being worn. I'm not after grip, just a thin layer of fabric to protect my palms a bit and these seem to suit my cause nicely. Will report back after trying them
