after 18 months in the NT from Gero it looks like we are headed for Perth. Planning on travelling a lot for sailing and these two both look like good options for a variety of WA conditions, but which one is best you reckon?
I emailed Hoops regarding a custom last month.
The only difference between the Nude or the Nuevo is the waiting period and $$
He did mentioned he's taking a break from shaping to have a well earned holiday so the wait might be a little longer than usual.
I'd flick him an email viathe website and ask the questions. http://www.nudeboards.com.au/
Incredibly informative website..............just as it was last year............ And the year before..........
I sailed a Nuevo prototype and was very very impressed.
Then again I like the Nude Chopper and have not sailed them enough to have a preference. At a pinch, the Nuevo.
Here's the difference.
A Chopper is hand made with templates and jigs to keep them all the same. If you want certain tweaks and changes it can be done. It's a good system for people that need something just a little different to the norm. If you're really short or really tall ( or really fat, no names here) things can be changed to suit if production boards don't work for you. You can also have something a little more rockered up or a little faster.
The Choppers are all made from certain templates so not every board is designed completely from scratch.
Maybe they're a production custom. I don't know I've never really thought about that. Call it what you will.
The Nuevo's are a full production board. We do a bunch of prototypes, test them ,tweak them and send the ones that work best to go into production.
It's a different way to design boards but I think it works pretty well.
It's so cool to see the production boards come out and doing well.
I haven't done any Nude boards for a while due to a few little hurdles but I hope to have it all happening again soon.
Cheers, Hoops
Well Hoops, I hope you get back into building more customs or at least make some bigger Nuevo's soon.
