Hey Lyndon,

Look forward to seeing you out in your formula board. With the summer Raceboard series being over I'm keen to ride a few different boats eg. My Lechner.)

Racing in Sydney was great, rich but great and I placed well 4th for the regatta including a 3rd in the last race :) that result gave me 4th in the Summer series (only 1 point off 3rd for the series) so pretty happy with the results. Hopefully next summer we can get a Raceboard heat at Gosford.

Well done John , great result. Got out around 2pm on Sat, had a bit of a chat to the guy on the one design.Got caught in a couple of the torrential down pours, the Etchells were only 50 metres away but could not see them. Wind speed seem to fluctuate from 5 to 25 knots depending on the rain squalls

Do you know who the guy on the One Design was? It wasn't by any chance Clyne Gowland? He used to Race at Gosford back in the 1980's (good sailor). I hope you managed to convince him to join us on Saturdays :)

With any luck we'll all be able to make it this Saturday. See you all soon.

Last Saturday turned out to be a light but enjoyable afternoon on my Lechner.

Well done to Peter D (F2 Lightning) and Lyndon (Starboard Serenity) who smashed out a 1st and a 2nd with the lead changing a number of times. Nice to see some close racing going on up the front.

Next Saturday will be the last day of Racing for the summer season at Gosford Sailing Club, the long range forecast is looking like 10-15 knots, which would be a perfect way to finish the season. I hope everyone can make it for the last race of the season, and hopefully a few drinks in the club afterwards.

Anyone from other clubs is more than welcome to join us, it'd be great to have a larger sailboard fleet for the last heat of the year. Any board with any sail is more than welcome.

See you all Saturday, as usual briefing in the club at 1pm, Sailboards starting at around 2:20pm.

Quick update that Gosford Sailing Club have announced a schedule change and Sailboards will be now starting at the first start sequence at 2pm.

Forecast is looking ok, hopefully the breeze turns up earlier than predicted for a good 10-15knots from the south east.

Briefing still in the club at 1pm. See you all tomorrow.

John.

Good afternoon everyone,

Tomorrow is looking good (sunshine at last and a forecast 12-17 knots) for the first day of our winter racing. Note we no longer have a start boat throughout winter, so the starts will be much less formal (either beach starts or we can synch our watches on the beach for 5 or 10 minute countdowns.

As discussed last Saturday, we'll aim for a 1pm Start (I know Lyndon may not make that due to work, so we may run a few short races instead of one long one). Lyndon also advised we may have a new starter who he met during the week, so the short races may work best to introduce a new starter as well.

I'll aim to be at the club around 12 noon. See you all there.

Nice sail yesterday at GSC, ? Final NE for this season, took my GPS with me we covered 33km, certainly shows how much distance race boards can cover

Hi all,
Steve Newman (fellow NSW Raceboarder) advises that the Peter Long Marathon is on at Bayview Yacht Racing Association (1842 Pittwater Rd, Bayview NSW 2104). Further details on the link below :-

12 noon Sunday May 7

I'm planning on attending, should be a fun event. Would be great if the Gosford team could all make it for the day.

John.

Great Close races yesterday. With lead changes and tacking duels. Great fun despite ridiculous low wind conditions. Thanks Guys.

Hi. PD said he would likely join us soon. I think the sentimental value of the mistral is working its charm. I just need to get the track working. I also needed a pin for the track. I remembered the chap with the sputnik 280 for sale had a pin. Also he has masts I needed to rig kids sails. So Guess what ... yes ... another buy. I now have that sputty. Ill bring it down next time.

Hi Pete,

I'll see what the breeze is doing, but it's looking promising. I'll also have to see what my shoulder is like, been a bit sore the past few weeks but a good breeze might be hard to turn down :) Might have to make it a full time harness session ;)

Good afternoon all,

Saturday is fast approaching us again, and after a great day out with the Gosford Crew last Sunday at the BYRA Peter Loft Marathon, we will be back at Gosford Sailing Club tomorrow at around 1pm start (12 noon to rig up) for our regular Saturday racing.

The forecast is looking quite light, but building through the afternoon. Lyndon has laid down the challenge for me to try and beat him using an F2 Comet he has recently picked up - Challenge accepted (I sure hope the wind blows).

Anyone interested in racing is welcome to join us, if you need help rigging, tuning or with sailing tips we are happy to oblige.

Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Hi Pete and Lyndon,

Great fun afternoon last Saturday, interesting to get a ride on a different type of board for a change. Would be really interesting in planing conditions, I think the F2 Comet may come out in front then. Great to have Paul out with us as well!

The Results from the BYRA Peter Loft Marathon including corrected times can be found here. (Glad I wasn't riding that F2 Comet for the Marathon though ;)

Yes and for the record John beat everyone on the comet in the first race. Officially amazing. But it did require setting a course without a substantial work, and calling pete back to round a tricky mark, but even so wow.
However in the true upwind down wind race even John couldnt produce a miracle, however he was much closer to us than I am usually behind him on regular gear.

Oh well Im planning a challenge for next time. Perhaps a old seatrend flapper board.

It was a very interesting and fun day out. Guess I need to learn to pump even harder!!! :(

The forecast for this Saturday is looking great, If you've managed to secure the mast track on it, you might find people offering to borrow that F2 Comet if the forecast holds true :)
