After reviewing various forecasts for this weekend, the organising committee has decided to reschedule Heat 4 of the Windsurfing NSW Formula Series event from 9 Jan to SATURDAY 16 Jan.

This event will now also count as Heat 4 of the Stormriders Summer Series, replacing the event scheduled for GRSC.

Currently Lake Macquarie is VERY full and brown and pushing the event to the following weekend should allow conditions in the Lake to get back to normal somewhat.

The long range forecasts for next weekend are predicting good southerlies, so registration and briefing will be at Marmong Windsurfing Club unless advised otherwise:
10:30am – 11:00am Registration
11:00am Briefing
12:00 noon Racing

We also have some Series plaques(trophies) & a few prizes thrown by Zhik(thanks very much Zhik) to give out at the conclusion of the day. With only a couple of points between a number of sailors in the top spots, 2nd & 3rd placings are still up for grabs in both the Open & Free Formula devisions, so this one is certainly not to be missed.

The lake has cleaned up nicely now and the 15 knot southerly forecast looks perfect. Should be a great day of formula racing. Make sure you're on time and rigged up, as the guys on the boat will be ready to start the first race right on 12 to make the most of the wind.

See you saturday.

Yes thanks James that is great news. As you’ve mentioned, that forecast for Lake Macquarie Saturday looking great. A 15knots out of the SE pretty much text book for Formula racing. www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/nsw4.asp

Great that the guys will be ready to roll for a 12 kick off, thanks so much for that. As per David's post, rego from 10.30 & briefing from 11.00 from Marmong Point Sailing Club.

And by the way folks, we have Mari our photographer on board for this one too so bring your best board shorts. We'll have a little presentation post the event also to hand out some Series plaques, so try to extend those leave passes & hang about afterwards.

Can't wait

A fantastic day of racing was had by all last Saturday & a massive thanks to the Marmong crew, especially Geoff & Neville, who set a great course & ran 5 very efficient & successful races for us through the afternoon.

A big congrates to Byron who led the way round his local track, showing us that despite the lack of Formula race time this season, he still has the power & speed off the line to make a dominant territorial claim. Not to diminish however the solid efforts made by Rick Murray, David Howe & Tibor Ferenzcy who kept him honest through the afternoon, pushing him home in every race.

Congratulations to Bruce Healy who won the day in the single lap devision, followed by ‘special guest’ Barry Fawkes & club vice skipper James Fawley, who managed to keep nipping at his heals through the arvo.

Results for the day can be viewed here: www.windsurfingnsw.com/content/formula/20152016/results/FwHeat4.html

Check out all the action of the day with photography by Mari Barrios. www.stormriderswindsurfingclub.com/notice-board.html

Finally congratulations to our Open Formula Series winners & place getters for 2015/16; Brett Morris, Rick Murray & Justin Lord respectively. Well done also to Bruce Healy, John Bear & James Farley in the Free Formula devision.

With just the Nationals at the end of the month on Botany Bay & the State Titles on Jervis Bay in early February, the remainder of the season is set to be a close competition amongst the top guys in the local fleet, with equal points & a count backs, the only thing separating 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th places in the open fleet & an even closer points score story defining the Free Formula fleet this season.

Final Results for the season can be viewed here: www.windsurfingnsw.com/content/formula/20152016/results/FwSeriesFINAL.html

See you all next wk end up again on Lake Macquarie for the GPS Free Race final event of the year.
