Has anyone sent boards from Brisbane to Adelaide (depot to depot) ?. Who did you use ?. Would you use them again ?
I am trying to get a board from Brisbane to Adelaide and it has been a headache dealing with the Brisbane freight companies. I've used a few companies in Perth and Melbourne, and never had such issues.
TNT - won't deal with public
Startrack - won't deal with public
Sadlier - $220 + GST + fuel
Mainfreight: Require a pallet or basket. Cost is $450 (Ie: Perth depot has flexible arrangement with boards, but not Brisbane ???. I used Perth depot last month with a cost of $140)
Most other co's in Brisbane I contacted don't go to Adelaide
Hunter Express (EGO ?) - a clust* f* to deal with. Long story !
It's easier to drive up to QLD in my car to collect board !

That's not such a silly idea Olskool, the Seabreeze owner could set up a classified section where members who are happy to transport other member's equipment for a fee could post an upcoming journey to see if anyone needs equipment transport. Sort of like Uber for watersports equipment. Obviously there are issues like insurance, and also the Seabreeze owner should be paid a small kickback for bringing people together, but it could work quite well.
Hey Paddles, insurance wise. A good idea, but is it necessary? We all treat our boards like eggs. Not like the boneheads just chucking parcels around. The roll on from dropping gear off is we get to meet other crew from around the country. Great to have like minded contacts for the inevitable Trans Oz Windsurf trek. Itll also build a bigger better closer knit windsurf community. Just what the sport needs..
The insurance would be for being caught out as the middle man in any dispute over condition. Imagine if you delivered a board to the buyer and they then claim it's damaged and not in the condition that they paid for, then the seller claims it was fine when it left his place and so it must have been damaged by the transport provider. You could find yourself in the middle of a battle you don't want to be in, even if it got pinched whilst in transit, insurance of some sort would hopefully cover it. You're onto something though, it's a great idea and would disrupt the "traditional" courier services.

Mate , I'm just curious as to how you ended up in a quandary with Hunter/Ego, I've freighted several items with them from interstate in the last couple of years and it all goes like clockwork and at a good price.
It started with a quote using an estimated dimension totaling ~$100 (seller had not packed board, so didn't know exact dim). The following week, I rang to purchase freight using exact dimension (which was an extra 3cm in length). New charge was $60 more. Not happy, I paid it anyway due to being busy. They emailed me connote and invoice with the estimated dimensions (not the new exact dimensions I had paid the extra $60 for). Sensing that this would create confusion when seller dropped board off to depot (possibly the depot charging seller another $60), I asked salesman to fix con note with the exact dimensions. However, they refused to fix their admin stuff up. So, I decided it was too risky using them, and hence this thread (plus the dramas with the Brisbane Freight Cos I contacted as mentioned above). Apart from the first phone call with the quote (which was quick and easy), getting through to a salesman during consecutive calls was very painful. I have a job where I can't take a personal call for longer than 20min. Hunter Express don't respond to emails (which would make things so simple if they did).
As you said, I also have never had issues with depot-depot freight services until this month with Brisbane freight cos.
