Club Windsurfing Sessions are officially starting at RQYS again this Saturday 16th Feb 8.30am to 11.30am and continuing every Saturday until Easter
Just to remind those interested Club Windsurfing is the Saturday morning session based around creating a place for new windsurfers to come and improve on their skills with a view to becoming fully independent, skilled and confident sailors. As well as improving on your skills fitness and knowledge you can meet other sailors in a friendly social club environment.
An experienced volunteer will be on hand to offer assistance, advice and on water support if needed. There may even be some drills to learn new techniques and skills.
Participants are expected to have completed a Learn to Windsurf course or have similar experience, that means you are capable of rigging, launching and retrieving gear unassisted and have the ability to sail back to your launching spot in up to 12knts of wind.
Some loan gear is available on a first in basis but ideally participant's will have their own gear, there are no specific requirement for size or style of your kit
Sessions are free to RQYS members, daily membership can be purchased at reception for non members.
In a nutshell these sessions are to help people new to the sport to get from the learning stage to the independent stage in a safe, supported and social place. Its one thing to do a windsurf course but heading out on your own for the first time can be daunting and sometimes even dangerous. Club Windsurfing is about making that transition as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Club Windsurfing is cancelled tomorrow morning due to Cyclone Oma
