Just saw and held the new Fanatic Quad 79litre at Wind Surf and Snow. It really looks dam sexy and the gloss coat on bottom looks unreal. At 55.5cm wide and able to carry a 5.8m sail it looks like a great east coast one board solution for a 70kg rider - can't wait to try it and compare it to my twin!

I love the colours! finally they got rid of that drab old grey stuff and have jumped on the colour bandwagon. but they still look unique and awesome! thumbs up Fanatic.

it's one of the weirdest boards i've seen in a long time. I just looked at it and went yep I know nothing about waveboard design, oooh shiny

usually with quads you set the fins further forward which helps loosen things up. the narrower the tail and the further forward they go.

of course that's my novice understanding.

the quad tail reminds me a little of mini mal tail. i am guessing that it has a noticable tail kick behind the fins.... but i haven't seen one so that's a big guess.

one thing it looks like in the photo is it has a bucket load of rocker. i'm thinking it would be amazing in big hollow surf.

again another guess.....

i'd preorder an 86L quad in an instant... only thing stopping me is i really haven't got around to selling my current waveboard.

yet again... another manufacturer that completely overlooks the market for light wind wave boards for heavier riders.

I really thought they would finally wake up and realise that there is definitely a market for that.

couldn't help myself and pre ordered the 86, worth a look at the video on the site to hear the explaination of the design concept.

My two cents worth "opinion" purely on face value.

They seem to have looked back at the colours and designs of the old Bic and other late 80's boards and ruthlessly sprayed colour all over the place.

until these images I was a huge Fanatic fan - based on design, ride and conservative sprays (got a 104 Freewave 08 and 112 skate that I love)
I'm glad they look so ordinary cause there is no way I am parting with a hard earned dollar on these 2011 babies - can't wait to see the reapirers face when asked - can you match the spray - I reckon the 09/10 resale value should hold well

I am sure they probably go well and those that purchase them will be stoked - but the first expression that comes to my mind is fugly

Repairs would be a nightmare but no worse than the wave graphic new wave & freewave of a few years back.

In the flesh the graphics do look fantastic though, the bottom is not all gloss the wavey lines going out from the symbol on the bottom is a matt texture (like textured glass).

Wow, it certainly looks like what's old is new again when it comes to graphic design. It reminds me of my old Tyronsea 330. Mine was pink, blue and white. I found a picture of something similar in the buy / sell area to what I had - I think you get the idea.

I've got a 2010 Fanatic Freewave 95 litre - which has conservative colours which suits me fine. Brilliant board, good to see they didn't mess with the shape!

The bottoms look good, but the decks are pretty retro bad.

I really wish I hadn't seen the release of these boards, now im Jonesing for two new boards: A Twinny 79 and Skate 100. From what I understand, there have not been any wild changes (shape wise that is) from 2010 with these boards in particular.

Ordinary?? I think not. But I can see where your coming from, they're an acquired taste. I actually think that Fanatic is jumping on the bandwagon from the surfing industry, i mean these boards look like my boardshorts! Totally eighties colors but, fashion is repeating itself once again!

I actually think that Fanatic is doing the right thing here. In reality, these designs reflect the retro pop-culture of today, Lady Gaga esq perhaps. They are targeting the younger generations it would seem, so from a commercial standpoint they are on the money..

For example, here is a current boardshort design:

I had a ride on the Falcon 111 the other day. It was windy 20-25 and gusting to 30. Given the wind and chop this board was amazingly composed, it felt a lot smaller than it was. It charged off the fin with most of the board sitting high and clear of the water. The gybe wasn't challenging and the speed was easy.
