Haven't used this board for about a year now. Rinsed it in the sunshine today ready to sell. Noticed the residual water in the air vent well from the hose was bubbling. Board heating up in the sun, air coming through the vent. Checked the O ring which was only very slightly damaged. A timely reminder to all of us to regularly check the O rings.

Thanks Chinny, a good reminder. When I started Windsurfing, I had a lot of problems with vents taking in water: faulty vent holes, defective screws, and knackered o-rings etc. This is my theory: The primary reason for boards banana splitting themselves is because the owner does the vent screw up once when board is brand new, and never checks vent again. Every few sessions, I coat my o-rings in a bit of silicon grease. No need to replace the o-ring. They seem to last indefinitely when lubed. As long as the vent hole isn't damaged/defective, this guarantees a seal. I figured if lubing seals is best practice/OEM specified for all mechanical technology ever invented by mankind, then why does Windsurfing equipment have to be an exception ? (sorry, just my engineering brain at work here LOL)

Yeah i bet you coat your O-ring in a bit of grease!!
