"I call this the Bouncer-Drill and I suggest you wear a helmet and as much protective gear as possible. This example demonstrates the technique without a ramp and instills a sense of what is meant by commitment. The fin must get out of the water or you will be ripped out of the footstraps, so bounce the board to get the board out of the water. Count one, two, and F*!??*!! ..... It is like a catapult but you are pulling the board with you. Remember to keep sheeting in hard and and to look back toward the clew. This hurts a little but is a good practice drill because the same technique (more or less) is used for all loops."
One for the 18c+ days not 10c days with snow and cold water flushing threw the wettie . Cools you down pretty quick in winter/spring. Yes another excuse
And don't forget to push the mast down wind or out to the leeward side of the board at 90 degrees, it does not go forward at all.
Think I'ld rather give it a go on a small wave. After practicing these flatwater catapult thingy's last summer, I ended up stuffing up my elbow and bashed my head twice on the mast (no helmet on 
) so slightly concussed. Put me off as not worth the injury's, especially at my young tender age.

must of been doing it wrong if hitting your head, elbow- too aggressive , nurture the learning like a soft pussy cat.
