Located beneath the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club administration hub on Hannell Street in Wickham, East Coast Marine is set up and ready for business.

Scott Beeby, manager of the service loft, opened the doors a few weeks ago and has already begun to help members of the sailing community with sail repair work and assist new boat owners with North Sails inventories for their yachts.

Scott has been a qualified sail maker for a number of years now, commencing his apprenticeship 10 years ago with an ex North Sails employee; well known sail maker Craig Phillips, who now is the current Sail Loft coordinator for the America's Cup syndicate BMW Oracle Racing.

Focusing on servicing boat owners from the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens area, this service centre is set up with additional small chandlery and rigging shop, which will make it easier for boats owners to get North Sails certified service without the hassle of travelling or transporting sails to Sydney.
