Barra release into Broome's Dampier Creek

WA's Fisheries Department has released 1,000 juvenile barramundi into Broome's Dampier Creek.  The fish were raised by Kimberley TAFE's aquaculture facilities in Broome and were tagged prior to their release to provide valuable monitoring and research opportunities as well as supporting recreational fishing.

The Department is looking into stocking other waterways such as Lake Kununurra to create new inland fisheries.

Anyone fishing for barra in the northern parts of WA should always remember to check size and bag limits in the Fisheries Guide.
