Ready to catch rainbow trout released into Vic rivers

Over 25,000 ready-to-catch rainbow trout have been recently released into 54 small lakes across Victoria, 10,000 more than corresponding releases last year.

Some of the new waters added to the list are Wodonga Wetlands, Foletti Caravan Park , Tchum Lake, Berwick Springs and Old Hamilton Reservoir. The waters were selected because they are close to urban centres or regional towns and provide a great opportunity for kids to learn about fishing.

Five lakes have also received 'premier trout' which weigh more than 1kg each as part of the Government's Go Fishing in Victoria initiative.

For a full list of stocked waters visit the Department of Primary Industries website.
