Two million native fingerlings released in 2009-10

Last financial year nearly 2 million native fish fingerlings were used to help restock dams across the state of Queensland courtesy of funding from the Stocked Impoundment Permit scheme.

Species stocked included barramundi, golden perch, silver perch, Australian bass, Mary River cod, Murray River cod and saratoga providing local and visiting anglers the chance to fish for a variety of species across the State.

Over 350,000 fishing permits have been sold since the start of the Permit scheme in 2000 and communities involved continue to benefit socially and economically through the benefits this funding provides.
