I do a slide launch unintentionally sometimes, when I haven't walked enough upwind to roll it over.

As it scrapes across the sand I cringe...

any tips...apart from the obvious.

... maybe start tensioning the lines (ie walking backwards) in a little more upwind position.

I just attach my bar to my harness and throw my kite in the air and hope for the best (fully powered up of course).
Eliminates the problem of sea shells.

Hey Eppo,
As Shopguy says;
"If the kite goes whoosh, you're doing it wrong, man."
Shopguy's right.
He knows he's right cause he's got it wrong so many times in the past himself.
Like the rest of us.
Yeah, that angle thing with the strings and stuff.
It can be a little tricky at times.
Like especially if you're a learner ...
or even an expert like RPM.
And especially if you're visiting a sketchy new launch site ...
or even your local break.
And especially if the wind is shifty and gusty ...
or a little too offshore-ish or onshore-ish.
And especially if the launch site is wind-shadowed,,,
Hell,
Especially if the conditions aren't totally perfect.
Maybe Shopguy can post up a tutorial on how to be the perfect self-launchee.
Of course my LaunchPad (patent-pending) self-launch system always warns me when I've got the launch-angle incorrect.
Dude, it's a precision instrument, for shore.
*wink

Drag or slide is only irresponsible when you get dragged or slid up over rocks or fences.

is 'especially' your new word for the month Slave.

I bet you got that straight from the crossword books at Belswan Lifestyle Estate. Anyways I can self launch, correctly and safely... It doesn't make me an expert, but it makes me competent... I don't need no kooky launch pads or tethering to fences..

As you get older your prone to osteoporosis.. If you have a sketchy crash or faceplant (which I have on good authority from a reliable source you did only recently) you really do yourself damage. I recommend this product for you

Hahaha, this RPM guy always sound like a real dickhead!!! I was told lately that he runs a school in Perth. If he says as much **** during a lesson than he does on Seabreeze at least we don't have to worry too much about having too many newbies on the water.....

Hey RPM,
I reckon you're going to be braindead very soon.
Seriously.
Your single braincell will either shrivel up and croak from alcoholic poisoning ...
or it will die from loneliness.
lol.
