Wow I'm going to take an interst in your posts, so informative which reveals your technical prowess regarding kites. Just awesome work mate appreciate your insightful feedback and well supported opinions. Dumass.

Here's a bloke thats pretty amped about the new gear he's been given to try out, and you two muppets can only give uneducated crass reviews on a product you've never ridden. The shots may be out of focus but this dont mean the products crap!. Iv'e seen the kites in the hands of a well capable rider and they look pretty good.
Have a go first and then vent your opinion.

I think Eppo was having a go at guttermouths post?? Not the Airush post

That is correct, should have done the quote thing I suppose. Airush been around a loooong time gutter mouth

dont get your knickers in a knot!
I was only giving my opinion.
welcome to the internet!

Well gutter mouth you seem to suggest you are a seasoned seabreeze person. Okay.
Welcome to kiting then and back your opinions up with some experience and fact. It is comments like this that stop a lot of experienced people I know to stop contributing to this forum. This is a loss to all of us.
You are choosing to use the Internet it seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Maybe you are just the village idiot but I hope not and you will try and substantiate your opinions with some experienced empirical evidence. Then again it is the Internet and it is your right to say whatever you want.
Comments like yours is also why I tend to visit the other forum more.

can somebody please post a pic of the airush bar extended, iv seen many pics but all of it contracted to its smallest size.. i cant see how extending this bar wouldn't make 2 huge edges where the bar end has left the center bar and lengthened. surely you would nick your hand and fingers on this edge.

oh i see it has a jacket that covers the the extension. thanks for the reply!

This is the long & short of the smart bar.
It's probably a great kite ...
but sometimes the stupid bar that comes in the bag can be a real dealbreaker.
The purchase of a kite is largely based on its pretty colour scheme.
But control-bars do hold some weight, you know.
This bar has too much bling.
The extendo system is a nice grit-catcher.
In the end, the bar gets fused into one fixed length.
A simple solution for a complicated piece of crap.

Time will tell, but there is some truth in what waves slave has said. Complicated equipment have more thing s that can go wrong. Will see how mine holds up. Put the grease stuff supplied on it. Not a fan of the two depower dangly things, gotta keep reading which one is power and which one is depower. Just a simple Line with a cleat would be better. But will get used to it. The rest of the bar is fine. Although not a fan of the moulded divet thingies for your fingers. Just a small diameter straight bar would suffice. Yeh over engineered.
Kites are good though.

No one is mentioning the new 500kg front lines..they are super tough just like the Slingshot ones.
The bar works great, and the new bar has much bigger push pins so less prone to sticking and all you have to do is rinse it out occassionally. I use ACF50 motorcycle anti corrosion in mine and never have a problem.
There is also adjustment on the bar end itself like the north style bar where the rear lines come out from the bar ends,,, you can have it as shown in the pics or the rear lines can come out from the inner edge of the bar end.
They have really upped their game on the kites too.

I really like all the technical aspects. Very informative thanks. Might even consider Airush for my new quiver this year.
even though I do really like the bar and technical aspects of the kite, in my opinion the graphs on the kite are a bit poor, not that that really matters, if it flies well who gives a F

The 2013 Airush Smart Bar is the 4th generation of the smart bar and time has already proved that this concept works!
I have been using a 2011 Smart bar (one that i have set up for my race kites) for 2 seasons now and have had zero issues with it. I use it set as the 55cm bar for my 17,15 and 13 and then pop the extensions off and use it set as the 45cm bar on my 10 and my 8. It is good being able to use the one bar for all of my kites as it keep everything simple and feeling similar every time i hit the water. I also NEVER wash any of my gear and have not had a problem with the bar getting "fused" i do however every 5 or 6 months pull the bar apart and spray it with lanolin oil.
Eppo if you are having trouble remembering which of the 2 toggles is less power and which is more power just remember "red is for stop" so if you are egging yourself and you want less power then pull the red one and when the gust has past and you want more power again then pull the blue one.
Fat fish you might want to check out the lanolin oil its cheap as chips and is completely neutral so will not react with the EVA on the bar grip.
We are expecting some of the 2013 boards in soon so i'll try and upload some photos when they get here.

Yeh came to that system of thought anyhow, but thanks. Yeh green for go I agree! Wouldnt help colour blind crew though...
tell ya what how bloody good does that wave go. Read reviews aborad but waiting to here from non affiliated (and affiliated) local crew. Really different canopy material, love the dark blood red colour two.
But have bought three kites and two boards for summer so I think I'm passed the bosses threshold and have run out of excuses. I too run with (think its plummets method) of confusing the hell out of her...but the eye rolls have now turned to angry stares...so think I'm done! let me know how the wave rides crew.

a lot of the early kite bars where green for right and red for left (as in port and starboard from sailing) but you don't see any red/green kite bars anymore. I have been told a few times that this is because a high percentage of guys are red green colour blind and i believe this is the reason that Airush have gone for red/blue and not red/green.
Eppo we have a demo 9m Wave that is currently with the Airush crew doing the rounds on the east coast. When it gets back in a couple of weeks and there is some good wind I'll bring it down your way (hopefully with a bunch of 2013 gear) and you can give it a burl yourself

I dig the name.
Smart bar.
lol.
By the way, it needs lube every 5 0r 6 months.
Lanolin oil, apparently it's super cheap and natural too.
Sheep know all about this stuff.
And about those push pins ...
the bigger the better, hey?
I like how they mold into your fist when you death-grip the bar.

Actually you don't feel them at all. They gotta get rid of those ridges on the bar, they are farqed( that's my technical contribution on a Friday night and the eagles are getting raped by the umpires at the moment). Just a simple round bar thanks.

Bar adjustment info:

Also don't forget that Airush do the analogue bar too if you don't like the sections in the smart bar!......something for everyone

I had the wave kite for about a month unfortunately I only got to ride it 3 times , It has been a lame winter in Perth .
This kite is very smooth , is fairly light on the bar but gives positive feed back as to where the kite is and what it is doing .
It turns quick but doesn't give a spike in power when swinging it through a tight turn .
Loved the kite from the first moment I rode it , no getting used to anything .
After the first session I thought it may have been a little gutless as it handled a fair bit of wind for its size with comfort . Next session was in lighter winds and it seem to generate as much power as any other 9m I have used .
Unfortunately I wasn't able to test it as thoroughly as I would of liked but it is definetly the kite I want for next season .
PS I am an Airush team rider
