Hi all
I only ride waves in a strong and gusty wave spot (Guincho, Portugal).
I'm still riding 2009 Evos, 7m is the kite i use 90% of the time.
I still love this kite for side onshore wave riding (much better than some actual kites I've flown).
But it's getting old, and needs replacement.
I'm considering the Neo 7m because of the steering depowered and also it's lightness but I'm
afraid of loosing the massive low end of my Evo.
0n the other hand I don't like that much the EVo highend.
The dilemma is Evo or Neo.
I will also replace my evo 9m 2009 that I don't like that much (grunty, slow and heavy) but has a massive low end, it's my biggest kite at 80kg.
Will the Neo 9m do the job in 15kn on a surfboard?
I won't go bigger than 9m.
Feedback appreciated.
Thanks
Vasco
Btw
I also have a Evo 6m that I love, will keep it for my kid and for strong days in Guincho.
I ride on 20m lines.

Have you considered the Vegas.
I know it is a freestyle kite but on freeride it is actually an awesome wave kite. Fast, stable and drifts well. This is isn't said much but it is a reality for those that fly them.
Also will eat gusts better than any of the north range. hence why I went that way, for exactly those reasons. You need to think beyond the two kites you have mentioned as I think they will not give you want you want, in my humble opinion.

Oi Vasco, Vasco de Australia aqui
Voce jah vuou o Cabrinha Drifter?
Saude irmao.. no proximo ano 2013 vou a Portugal and Setembro e dou-te uma ligada. Nao conheco a area do Guincho mas oico muito dos meus amigos.
Chau e boas ondas.

I think I understand your problem....
Soultion: Sell your North Kites and buy Naish or Cabrinha.
What is with the fruity decorations on North equipment?

Vasco,
AS u can tell there arent a lot of people in Aus who ride the Neo or Evo at present, just a lot of pimps who ride other gear! The Evo is picking up momentum but i dont know anyone with the Neo. Sounds like youve got a lot more experience with these kites than the rest of us, i know this isnt really much help but just stating the facts. Your probably better off just getting a Demo and trying them both, see which one suits what u want the best. Good luck.

Thank you all.
I've tried a lot of kites from innumerous brands, but I still prefer North.
I'll wait for a demo.
@eppo - I do love the Vegas, but It won't work in Guincho, some days the wind goes from 15kn to 35kn, I need kites with a good usable range.
Rebels are also out of question, Evos made me a much better surfer.
@jamdfingr - after driving a Mercedes there's no turning back
@vasco - feel free to contact me when you arrive.
Good waves

I'm a North man myself, have owned the Vegas, the Rhino, the Rebel and the Evo ranges. Just got the 2012 Evos and love them. Still have a 10m Rebel but almost never use it now, will sell it and buy another Evo. Easy kite, does everything flawlessly. Good quality.
Better the devil you know...
I hear the waves are big in Guincho.

Fair enough but the delta in the Evo surely will limit your top end?
