There's a new forum called "The Hookup"

If you want to get together with new / existing crew, this is the place to go.

Uses include:

* Downwinders
* Sharing rides to events
* Adventures to new spots
* Any "Kitesurfing get togethers" you can imagine...

The forum is new, and we hope it brings heaps of crew together.

Personally, I've been invited by forum crew on weekend trips to new spots. I've rolled up on the day with kites and a sleeping bag, and off we went. Didn't know anybody, but after the weekend, we'd all had a wicked time and strong friendships were built which exist to today.

Downwinders are also an awesome session, but if you're a newbie, you might be bit initimidated about your first - so join up with some crew, and you'll be hooked.

Many imagine downwinders to be a hardcore slog.

Fact is, if you're already spending an hour or two going backwards and forwards at your favourite spot, downwinders are no more demanding. Sometimes, if you're too keen, the downwind part is over too fast, and you end up with the usual backwards and forwards routine and stuck back in the crowds for the rest of your sesh. Keen crew will jump back in the cars and do a 2nd downwinder!

And, downwinders are not a huge offshore experience. The ones most crew do are about hitting the few beach breaks down the coast, so you stay mostly inshore.

Enjoy ...
