Ok there's been a few threads about family freindly kiting spots in the island. however i'm looking for a specific spot for next winter. my kids a will be 5,7,9 The problem is my missis hates being at a windy beach. so i'm looking for a location that perhaps has a sheltered beach and resort so the kids can play and the wife can sunbath and i can then sneak around a corner and be presented with a glorious 20-25 knots. does such a place exist? in the perfect world i'd like a flatwater spat that also has waves out further on a reef or something. ps i don't want to have to catch a boat from the resort or have to be away all day from the family. I want to roost back and forth by the resort for an hour or 2 at a time

I don't know if my wife likes or hates me. She booked me Cocos last month and Mauritius next month? She is keeping my 3 boys at home with her.

@ Plummet - Rarotonga, good options for the kids, but only one option for kiting (though no boat) not too expensive

Plenty or neurotic ones who'd rather sit read a stupid book and chat on their phone then whinge about the time they don't have to themselves. Plenty of those if that's what ya mean Chris.

Doh, supposed to have clicked onto Greenhead's post and quoted that. A missus that sends me off kiting sounds so much better than your suggestion Eppo :)

Yeh we need some lessons off the plummet master. I am not worthy. Anyhow anyone get any ideas for plummet so he can take his family on a kite trip, as opposed to getting sent by himself to other tropical destinations to kite? There is something seriously wrong with this post. Lol.

plantation island - go with the view the wind will suck and you might get lucky, or rent a camper and drive around the 123 0000 000 beaches of nz in summer using the forecast as your guide - plan nothing greatly in advance.

Mauritius could be your answer - not pacific but she can sunbake and watch your awesomeness. the beach bends around so she can be out of the wind and you can be in it. Warm clean water chest deep, with world class waves on the reef. Also lots to do for other activities for wifey. walks, shopping, markets, drives / sightseeing, loads of adventure activities, etc pm me if you want more info.

Yep, agreed, go stay at Les Pavilions, Le Morne, Mauritius. 25 knots on the left, 0 knots around the corner, joy!
